POLISH ART

Hi!

Hope you are doing super.  This week is off to a great start, as my Mom arrives from VA today.  In addition to all her TLC and help with the lil’ guy, I’m also really looking forward to her delicious Latin cooking!  My Julia — she totally rocks!

So, to start off the week, I have Polish beauties for you to see.   These pieces come from the Polish Art Center in Hamtramck, Michigan when my husband and I visited at the beginning of the summer.  Pajak which means spider in Polish, is know as a paper chandelier and it is a dying art in Poland.  The samples carry at this shop are from folk artist that are still practicing the craft.  Beautiful and intricate, they are all done by hand using paper, thread and needle and raw straw, and of course lots of love and patience.   I have posted in the past about the vintage paper chandelier my husband bought me last year and they only had a few left, but this time they had new and bigger inventory!  I was thrilled to see all the different colors and sizes available.   I want them all!!

This shop is truly a gem and the owners couldn’t be sweeter.  If you are in the Detroit area go visit, and also have some pierogies in one of the local Polish restaurants.

Love it!

The owners’ 35 yr old Pajak — the one item not for sell.

Lovely head-crown
